Greenwich firefighters respond to a blaze Saturday at a Cos Cob residence that fire officials say was started by improperly disposed embers. The incident at 57 Valley Road was the second fire in a Greenwich home in less than a month that was ignited by fireplace ashes. A home on Khakum Hill Road was damaged by a blaze in January. No injuries were reported in either case. Fire officials remind residents to leave ashes in the fireplace, or discard them in a metal container with a lid away from structures and dry brush or leaves.
