Finishing the regular season in grand fashion, the Greenwich High School boys swim team had little trouble getting by Wilton High School, winning 133-53.
The Cardinals won 10 of the 12 events, including all three of the relay events. Leading in the way individually was Thomas Dillinger, who finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.06) and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:49.10. Not to be outdone was Ed Moss, who dominated the short-distance races. In the 50-yard freestyle, he took first with a time of 21.69 seconds. During the 100-yard freestyle, Moss grabbed gold with a time of 49.67.
Competing in the 100-yard backstroke was Alex Lewis, who finished first with a time of 55.60. Teammate Tim Argo finished with the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.37.
In the diving portion of the meet, Jeff Aselin finished with a high score of 270.05 points.
Big Red’s relays also flexed their muscle against the Warriors. In the 200-yard medley, the foursome of Lewis, Iain Edmundson, Julian Fraser and Moss finished first with a time of 1:40.59. During the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Fraser, Kevin Parker, Moss and Dillinger finished tops with a time of 1:33.34.
Finishing off the meet, the GHS team of Taylor Moore, Ben Wurst, Lewis and Dillinger finished with a first-place time of 3:21.82.
Up next for the Cardinals will be the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship trial meet, which gets underway Feb. 26 at the GHS pool. A day later, Big Red will take to the Westhill High School pool for competition in the FCIAC diving championship.
