As tax season approaches, there are a lot of questions and for those needing help, there is assistance on the way.
Residents can receive free income tax assistance on the third floor of Town Hall every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until April 11 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Participants need to bring W-2 forms, 1099 forms, any paperwork related to income or expenses including real estate and automobile taxes paid, last year’s tax returns, both federal and state and the amount of any refunds received.
They should also bring identification such as their Social Security card or driver’s license as well as their spouses and dependents along with bank account information if a refund is desired as soon as possible via direct-deposit. For married couples filing jointly, both will have to sign the return.
Tax assistance sessions are staffed by certified volunteers from the Greenwich community and the Retired Men’s Association of Greenwich in association with AARP Foundation.
