The Greenwich High School gymnastics team had little trouble winning its tri-meet against Westhill and New Canaan high schools. Big Red finished first overall with 115.0 points, while New Canaan took second with a distant score of 92.1. The Vikings netted third with a score of 91.85.
Kat McCaffrey led the way for the Cards, winning the all-around with a score of 31.3. She took top honors in the beam with a score of 8.25, while also netting the gold on floor with a score of 8.15.
Not to be outdone was Tori Mann, as she took second in the all-around with a score of 29.85. She finished with the gold on the bars, netting a score of 7.8, .4 better than McCaffrey’s second place score of 7.4. Mann also took third on floor, posting a score of 7.85.
Rounding out the all-around top three was another GHS gymnast, as Emily Clarke grabbed third with a score of 26.35. Clarke had a pair of second place performances. Her score of 8.0 on vault and 8.0 on floor gave her the silver. That 8.0 on floor was her career best in the event.
In addition to McCaffrey’s performance on the beam, Big Red swept the top three, as Alice Statham finished second with a score of 7.3 and Bryany Brock had her season best score, netting a 7.05 which was good enough for third.
With the two victories, Greenwich improved to 5-6 on the season and will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Pomperaug.
