Celia Vita, 49, long time town employee

Celia M. Vita of New Canaan, who worked in the Greenwich tax office, died suddenly on Friday, Jan. 18, at her home. She was 49.

Born in Port Chester, N.Y., on Oct. 10, 1963, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Celia Rich Vita. She graduated from Greenwich High School in 1981 and earned her associates degree from Berkley College in White Plains, N.Y.

Ms. Vita was an employee for the town of Greenwich, working in the tax department. She enjoyed going to the movies and loved animals, but most of all she cherished the time she spent with her family, they said. “She was a loving sister and aunt who will be missed by all who knew her,” her family said.

She is survived by a sister, Paula Marturano and her husband Thomas of Trumbull; a brother, Joseph Vita and his wife Janet of New Milford; and nieces and nephews, Teresa and Marisa Marturano, Joseph Jr., Michael, Valerie and Thomas Vita.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 4 to 8. Funeral services are Thursday, Jan. 31, at 9, at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10 in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Trumbull, for a Mass of Christian Burial.
