Doug Kitchen, the Connecticut Account Representative for A.G. Williams Painting Company, was recently named to the board of the Connecticut chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).

Mr. Kitchen, who previously served as the Society’s liaison for industry partners, joins the eight-member board as a member at large.

In addition to his board responsibilities, Mr. Kitchen is overseeing the first ASID trade show in four years, which is scheduled for spring 2013 in Greenwich.

The show will offer the opportunity for industry partners that specialize in paints, rugs, drapery and furnishings to showcase their products for area designers, contractors and other design professionals.

Mr. Kitchen has been a member of the A.G. Williams management team since July 2010. He began his career while in college, where he ran a home painting business. He later expanded into the wallpaper industry, graduating from the United States School of Professional Paper Hanging and serving as president of the Westchester brand of the National Guild of Paper Hangers. Mr. Kitchen is also a technical consultant to Osborne & Little, a London-based leading fabric and wallpaper designer and distributor.

He is a member of the ASID and Painting Decorating Contractors of America. A former Marine who served in the Vietnam War, Mr. Kitchen resides in Norwalk with his family.

ASID describes itself as a community of people driven by a common love for design and committed to the belief that interior design, as a service to people, is a powerful, multi-faceted profession that can positively change people’s lives. Through education, knowledge sharing, advocacy, community building and outreach, the Society strives to advance the interior design profession and, in the process, to demonstrate and celebrate the power of design to positively change people’s lives. Its Connecticut chapter hosts several educational events and networking opportunities for its members and industry partners.

“As an interior designer whose clients desire the highest standards, I know I can turn to Doug Kitchen and A.G. Williams to meet and exceed my expectations for painting and wallpapering needs,” said Linda Shockley of ASID. “Their organization is very professional, they excel in customer service, and their beautiful work is a great value.”

A.G. Williams Painting Company is located at 411 Pelham Avenue, Pelham, N.Y., with offices at 26 Arcadia Road in Old Greenwich. For more information, visit Agwilliamspainting.com.
