Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich, 4 Horseneck Lane is hosting its 11th annual 3-on-3 Corporate Basketball Challenge on Thursday, April 13. There will be a basketball clinic with Phaethon Bolton from 3:30-4:30 p.m. with members ages 8 and older; Former NBA champion John Starks will speak at 5 p.m. and the tournament starts at 5:15.
Teams, comprised of basketball enthusiasts and kid supporters from Fairfield County and New York corporations, will play in this tournament and fund-raiser to benefit the Club’s programs which focus on academic success, good character & citizenship and healthy lifestyles. The winning team will receive the coveted championship title and trophy. Last year’s Champions represented General Atlantic in the Corporate Bracket and AQR of the Competitive Bracket.
John Starks is the guest speaker at this year’s 3 on 3 Corporate Basketball Challenge. He is a retired NBA basketball shooting guard who gained fame while playing for the New York Knicks in the 1990s. Starks eventually became a key player on the team and played 8 seasons in New York from 1990-98. Starks will share an inspirational story to the players and root them on to have great game for its members.
Just before the adult 3 on 3 begins, Club members, ages 8 to 12 will participate in a basketball clinic run by former Club member, turned businessman, Phaethon Bolton and Wake Forest Division-1 basketball player. This clinic is free for the first 30 Club members and kids will learn how to dribble, shoot and pass.
