Wining, dining for a cause

Community Centers, Inc. (CCI) recently hosted its annual Festive Giving fund-raiser, Wines for the Holidays, at the Belle Haven Club where the CCI staff, board and friends enjoyed an elegant evening of premium wines, delectable fare and an exciting auction.

With every donation participants helped a child thrive, a family connect, a senior maintain independence, a special needs person socialize or a newcomer learn English and gain citizenship.

Donated dollars helped give at-risk children and teens a chance to change their future, recognize their potential and realize their dreams.

Local sommelier Terry Rogers, of Horseneck Wines, presented a selection of fine wines at the event and some of the auction items included a romantic weekend vineyard getaway, a personal wine tasting event and a stunning pearl necklace donated by the artist Adria de Haume.

At the gala, CCI honored Carol A. Memishian, recipient of the Barbara Nolan Community Service Award. Ms. Memishian is the CCI board president and has been an active community service volunteer in Greenwich since 1979.

She helped establish several outreach programs in town for seniors and youngsters alike.
