Ruth Yanosik Goss, a life-long Greenwich resident, died peacefully at home on the morning of Nov. 20. She was born Nov. 6, 1926 to the late George Colvin Yanosik and Elizabeth Truewood Hendren.

Ruth attended public schools, graduating from Greenwich High School in 1944. She went on to graduate from Yale School of Fine Arts. She was an art teacher in the Greenwich school system, and later, while raising a family, a substitute teacher. Ruth enjoyed encouraging children and adults to find their unique artistic expression, and taught various craft and art classes at the YWCAs in Greenwich and New Canaan, at her church, Bruce Museum, and elsewhere, and in the afters programs in Greenwich schools. Ruth loved her home town, its proximity to New York City museums and galleries, but especially Island Beach and Tod’s Point. She was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich, serving as Deacon and volunteering in numerous capacities.

She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Dean L. Goss; four children, Wendy G. Salisbury of Norwalk, Judith G. Goss of Greenwich, Dean C. Goss of Greenwich, Martha W. Cava of Roxbury, and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Putnam Cemetery on Friday, Dec. 28 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Presbyterian Church.
