Kids in Crisis receives more than $5,000 from Whole Foods Market Greenwich

Kids in Crisis was the recipient of $5,370.17 from Whole Foods Market Greenwich. The store, located at 90 East Putnam Avenue, designated Kids in Crisis as beneficiary of its 5% Giving Day held Thursday, Jan. 14. Five percent of all purchases made that day were given to the Cos Cob-based children’s shelter and community resource, which recently announced a cut in $750,000 of funding from the State of Connecticut.

Whole Foods Market Greenwich representatives presented Kids in Crisis with a check on Feb. 24, and cooked dinner for the children in residence. Whole Foods Market Greenwich also donates food to the shelter three times a week on a regular, ongoing basis.

“Whole Foods Market Greenwich is thrilled to support Kids in Crisis and their vital work. We are grateful to the Greenwich community for shopping with us and helping to make a positive impact on local organizations,” said Connie Leonard, Marketing Team Leader at Whole Foods Market Greenwich.

Kids in Crisis (www.kidsincrisis.org) is Connecticut’s only free, round-the-clock agency providing emergency shelter, crisis counseling and community educational programs for children of all ages and families dealing with a wide range of crises – domestic violence, mental health and family problems, substance abuse, economic difficulties and more. Since its founding in 1978, Kids in Crisis has helped more than 132,000 Connecticut children and families; last year, 6,184 children and families received assistance from the organization.
