The Brunswick School basketball team had a lot riding on this evening’s game against Hamden Hall and they didn’t disappoint.
On senior night in the Dann O’Neil Gymnasium, Brunswick honored its seniors with a thrilling 74-61 victory victory over Hamden Hall.
While seniors Nick Kono, Sean Forester, Sam Fraser, Jack Sherwood, James Robinson and captain Addison Pierce, it was the youngest player on the team, Billy O’Malley, that paced the Bruins, coming off the bench to score 13 points. Sherwood added 12 points and five rebounds, while Fraser finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Not to be outdone was Robinson, who added eight points and three assists. Kono had five points and Forester rounded out the scoring with two points.
With the victory, Brunswick locked up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Fairchester Athletic Association tournament and will host a first-round game, which gets underway Feb. 20.
Up next for the Bruins is a battle with Class A boarding school Trinity Pawling at home Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
So far this season, Brunswick has been light’s out against boarding schools, beating Deerfield and Andover and is actually in contention for a bid in the New England Class A Tournament.
